Founded in 2004, the Bergland Township Parks and Rec Committee’s goal has been to create a park suitable for children and adults living and visiting Bergland. With a generous donation from the Bergland Centennial Committee, efforts were made to raise more money and apply for a Michigan DNR Trust Fund Grant.
In the summer of 2005 the Committee with the help of the Ontonagon County Road Commission, John Korich and the donation of sand, a beach was constructed on the shoreline of Lake Gogebic.
